Torremolinos
Torremolinos is located 4 miles to the west of Malaga airport and
started its tourism life some 40 years ago. It is an evolving resort
and has cast off its previous shackles from the British comedies
of the 60s and 70s. Torremolinos has a wide choice of hotels and
restaurants along with entertainment and nightlife to suite everyone.
Although a popular destination for the younger generation in the
height of summer, through the rest of the season it still retains
a unique Spanish atmosphere, warm and friendly.
Torremolinos has 2 long wide sandy beaches with the usual facilities
of sun-beds, parasols, water sports and bars. There's a 4 mile
promenade which plays host to bars, restaurants and clubs but
if you fancy some retail therapy then Calle San Miguel is the
best place for shopping. If you're self catering there are a few
large supermarkets too.
What is there to keep the kids entertained? Top of our list is
Tivoli World - which is the biggest amusement park in the area
with over 40 rides plus performances for all ages and restaurants
to suit all tastes. Another great option is a water park and there
are a couple in the area. Torremolinos Aqua Park has over 100
metres of flume along with a tropical lagoon, jacuzzi and lots
of green areas to sit in the sun. Parque Acuático de Mijas
is located between Marbella and Malaga with another array of slides
and pools and picnic areas. There's a Sea Life centre in Benalmadina
where you can walk across the bottom of the "sea" and
watch the likes of sharks, eels, turtles and jellyfish.
Grown-up playtime? Then there is a Casino in Benalmadena with
the most common games played such as roulette and blackjack and
if you just want to sit and watch the world go by, then a pavement
cafe in the marina in Benalmadena is a must. If golf is your game
then there are some excellent courses not too far away, the Lauro,
the Alhaurin, Parador and Marbella.
