Tenerife
Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands (over 1200² miles)
located off the west coast of Morocco. It's got to be one of the
most beautiful European Islands. It has deserts, volcanoes and breathtaking
beaches. One of the most popular locations to visit is The Parque
Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide which has a volcanic crater
with a huge circumference and during winter there's usually snow
on Mount Teide. Summer temperatures can reach as high as 40°C
here. Generally the island has the lowest temperature differences
between seasons, compared to anywhere else in the world!
The beaches are either sandy or fine dark shingle and most meet
the European requirement for cleanliness, with good access and
facilities. The most famous area for visitors is Playa de Las
Americas which has lots of small beaches sheltered by breakwaters.
One of the safest for swimming (especially for children) is the
400m long beach at Los Cristianos. You could take a boat trip
to see "the end of the world" at the Cliffs of the Giants,
which are sheer rock walls (some as high as 800m) that fall in
the sea to the west coast of Tenerife. With a wide range of hotels
