Salou on the Golden Coast
The Costa Dorada has 150 miles of coastline running down from Barcelona
and includes the beach resort of Salou. There are 8 beaches in the
area, many of which have the blue EU flags. It has an excellent
selection of flamenco bars, restaurants and pubs - all you could
wish for on holiday including music and entertainment or a nice
meal in a peaceful setting. Salou has a choice of local street markets
which sell all sorts of arts and crafts plus the usual produce.
From Salou (20 minutes by car) you can visit the Universal Studios
Port Aventura in Tarragona or the water park at La Pineda. Alternatively
you can explore one of the oldest monasteries and experience the
breathtaking views at Montserrat. The Ebro Delta nature park is
a wetland area covering nearly 200² miles and a paradise
for birdwatchers with over 300 species - why not take up the scientific
study by viewing them on a cooling boat trip?
