Majorca
Majorca or Mallorca? Majorca is the name given to the island by
foreigners whereas Mallorca is the local name. It is the largest
of Balearic Islands, which are located in the Mediterranean Sea
off the south east coast of Spain. The capital is Palma de Mallorca,
and the island has approximately 186 miles of coastline. Weather
is balmy with little rainfall and the south east Sirocco winds bring
red sand from the African deserts.
Mallorca has a wide selection of resorts that cater for everyone.
Golf has become a popular past-time on the island and there are
several courses on the island. Calas de Majorca is just one of
the popular resorts and is located on the east coast, approximately
45 miles from Palma.. It has a good selection of bars and restaurants
and is an ideal family resort.
Alcudia is located 32 miles north of Palma, with the old town
situated 2 miles in from the coastline. This is the home to the
sprawling tourist developments and they lie to the western side
of the Bay of Alcudia.
For those of you interested in partying 'til the sun rises, perhaps
Magaluf will fit the bill? It has loads of clubs and bars that
are open through the night, along with plenty of daylight activity
too.
