Benidorm
Benidorm has a skyscraper skyline, that has over 35,000 hotel beds
and with so many visitors each year - there must be something sexy
about the place! It has 2 sweeping beaches, known as Playa Levante
(Sunrise Beach) and Playa Poniente (Sunset Beach) which are both
award winning beaches with their fine sand and clear waters. There
are plenty of opportunities to hire boats, jet-ski's, or have a
diving course during the peak season. The summer temperatures are
higher than average due to the mountain range giving Benidorm its
own micro-climate. You can usually sunbathe the whole year round.
Aqualandia (water park) is a 5 minute drive from Benidorm, and
a great day out for kids and grown-ups. There's slides, chutes,
pools and diving displays to choose from along with several play
areas. Close by is the marine life and exotic animal park of Mundomar,
home to dolphins, penguins and seals. Fancy a bit of local history?
Then take a coach tour from Benidorm to the fantastic fortress
at Guadelst - in the mountains. The views are spectacular. Also
worth a visit is the town of Altea which is 7 miles north along
the coast. It has romantic medieval cobbled streets and the biggest
outdoor market in the Costa Blanca on a Tuesday.
Lots of hotels offer quality live entertainment, from dance to
cabaret, but if you're younger and more "international"
then the buzzing discos and pubs are located in The Square, behind
hotel Marina. If you're after a Las Vegas style show, then Benidorm
Palace has a 3 hour spectacular with dancers and performers plus
an optional evening meal.
