Barcelona
Barcelona faces the Mediterranean Sea and has an ancient history
shown in its Romanesque buildings. But, it also has its modern architecture
making it an exciting and pulsating city. Barcelona has 50 museums
showing permanent and temporary exhibitions, including artists like
Picasso along with contemporary works. It hosts an array of music
festivals from classical to flamenco. If you want to see your destination
in all its splendour then visit Park Güell located to the north
of the Barcelona district of Gràcia.
Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city and the mixture of buildings,
people and atmosphere in the Barri Gòtic and las Ramblas
area make this a wise place to start socialising in the many bars,
clubs and restaurants. City centre bars can be expensive.
Leisure attractions such as the Tibidabo Amusement Park (take
a ride on the cable railway up the mountain) and the old harbour
area the Port Vell along with the enchanting Horta Labyinth Park.
As Olympic hosts in 1992 there's a wealth of sports and leisure
activities on offer in the area too - such as cycling, hiking
and skiing.
